Jon Braun is the Managing Editor of Vault Asia Ltd.  In addition to overseeing the publication of Vault’s guides in the Asia Pacific region, he has lectured about careers throughout Asia, including in Hong Kong, China, Singapore and Korea.  He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin.

The term “Eurasian” was perhaps first used officially in the Straits Settlements records in 1849, in the population census encompassed several smaller “Eurasian” groups that had origins from places like Malacca, Goa, Ceylon, Bencoolen, Macao and Ambon.

Eurasians are rich heirs to a hybrid of traditions and customs. Most are of the Christian faith, with religious celebrations being an integral part of their lifestyle. The Eurasians in Singapore are descendents of several generations with interesting family trees, mostly Asian with shades of European ancestry, heritage and upbringing. Most may recognizably have Asian look, but foremost linked to European ancestry through their family surnames
