In this hands-on training session you will learn to navigate SMU PYXIS, our Digital Library which is different from your previous library system. You will learn how to find course readings assigned by your professor, search for e-journals and retrieve articles using online databases. Loan privileges and other services offered by the library for your benefit will also be covered. You will discover scholarly resources in the library other than Google that you will need to use for your research projects and assignments while at SMU. These skills will allow you to be competitive with the local students who have already been trained to use our resources.
We will offer additional courses in your subject areas in September.
This workshop is COMPULSORY for ALL NEW students [local, international and exchange] who have not attended library trainings in the earlier 2 rounds of matriculation trainings.
